Commodities: Uranium
Hi Guys, it’s been a couple of days since BOSS Energy got smashed after their update. do you have any further thoughts or information around it? I was hoping for a bounce thinking it was over done.
regards, Simon
Hi James & Team
Did MMatters subscribe to the AIC Mines SPP?
Also -at what price would you buy the URNM ETF ?
BOE has hurt badly this week & PDN disappointing – looking at transitioning to an ETF for Uranium exposure.
regards
Debbie
The largest listed western uranium producer, CCJ, slipped overnight after opening stronger following its earnings report. Still, it succumbed to market weakness, plus its +230% appreciation from its April low, which probably led to some understandable profit taking.
PDN was hit hard last week on lower-than-expected FY26 guidance, and yesterday’s BOE shocker extended the pullback to almost 18% in five trading days.
BOE -43.97%: Q4 uranium production exceeded expectations while sales lagged due to market strategy. FY26 costs were guided higher than expected, though the primary reason for the selloff was the revelation that management ‘identified potential challenges that may arise in achieving nameplate capacity’ in FY27 and beyond.
On the stock level, I am currently looking for ideas that have no/little correlation to the ASX – and PDN certainly flits that particular bill after retreating over the last year while the ASX200 has posted new all-time highs.
Hi James/Shawn,
I think it’s funny how so many analysts chose Paladin Energy as their favourite pick in the uranium space. It has been a fickle sector though, but I do believe, with news reaching saturation point, that it’s about to enter a strong ‘public participation’ phase, simply because there is now a clear disconnect between the spot price and the equities. Can you offer maybe three alternative ASX stocks that the ‘public’ might gravitate towards?
PDN +1.93%: was hit yesterday on lower-than-expected FY26 guidance, though it recovered some of the loss today as the company did the rounds. We had them in this morning, and we came away from the meeting with more confidence about what comes next.
