Sectors: Retail
Hi Team,
I watch many buy, sell, hold podcasts and anytime a cyclical stock is mentioned, the feeling I get is that it is a no go. So, when a guest on these podcast first words are “But it is a Cyclical”, does that mean to avoid. Nobody says we are in the right cycle now to buy this or in this cycle we would not buy this. Does anybody know when a cycle starts or is it always after the event?
LOV reported missed expectations when they February, here, and will be out with FY26 results on the 26th August.
WES has been the pin up in the consumer discretionary space, although it does have broader exposure outside of retail. The owner of Bunnings reports FY26 results on the 27th of August, and there looks to be a lot of optimism already baked into the price.
We looked at SUL in detail last month, here, and we were neutral at the time ~$13 and its hard to get too excited, even with the stock lower, ahead of its FY26 result on Thursday.
JIN had a big fall today I note the down grade but the reaction seems to be more than that ? Is it a good time to buy this stock ?
Hi, I may be missing it with Shawn Trade Ideas which are put forward, but while I often see the stop loss being put in place, we don’t get the target price to take profit? The most recent one for APE has a stop loss at $21.80 but no target price for Profit.
Hi James and Team
Your current view on Nick Scali, JB HI-FI & Lovisa.
With higher inflation and higher interest rates expected
how do you see the consumer discretionary stocks to perform?
I know you hold Nick Scali & JBH in your portfolios. You would expect this sector would be where consumers would hold off spending. Would you hold off buying in this sector? In particular I’ve never gotten set to buy NCK – what price would you pay now?
regards
Debbie
Dear Esteemed Team,
